The 2019 China Summer Resort Tourism Industrial Summit, jointly hosted by China Tourism Academy, China Meteorological Administration Public Meteorological Service Centre, and Changchun Municipal People's Government, kicked off in Changchun, Jilin province on June 21. The Report on Summer Resort Tourism was released and the winners of the Best Summer Resort Cities were unveiled during the summit.

As a major tourism province that is popular for escaping the summer heat, southwest China's Guizhou province received several awards at the summit. It has Guiyang, Anshun, Xingyi, Xingren, as well as some counties among the recipients of the Best Summer Resort Cities and other awards.

In 2012, China Meteorological Administration Public Meteorological Service Centre organized this annual summit to facilitate sustainable development in the summer resort tourism industry. The summit invites counties, districts, and cities with moderate climates, as well as exemplary tourism products and services to participate in the selection of the best summer resorts. This year’s event welcomed a total of 199 participants to enter the selection process.

Shi Jingyi, deputy inspector of Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, shared the province's experiences in developing summer resort tourism. He noted that the cool temperate climate and abundant natural resources are unique advantages for development.

Guizhou has an average altitude of 1,100 meters, which is the most suitable for long-term habitation. Its average temperature in the summer is 23 C, which is the most comfortable for the human body. With its 99 percent rate of good air quality in the summer and its 57 percent forest coverage rate, the province has attracted millions of visitors.

In addition, Guizhou has carried out preferential policies for summer resort tourism to attract more tourists. "In the past two years, our preferential policies covered about 560 million tourists from 10 provinces and cities. From June 15 to September 22 this year, tourists outside Guizhou province are able to enjoy a five percent discount on the entrance tickets for scenic spots and the same discount on highway tolls," Shi said.

In the peak season for summer resort tourism, Guizhou welcomes people from all over the world to experience a cool and relaxing summer.
