Relying on abundant natural resources, deep-processing and industrial structure adjustment, the ferrous metal, nonferrous metal and new materials industry has developed rapidly in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

In 2019, the total output value of Guizhou's basic material industry above designated size – with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) or above – reached 104.9 billion yuan, occupying 9.62 percent of the total output value of Guizhou's industries above designated size.

The added value of the basic material industry was 23.8 billion yuan, an increase of 20.8 percent.

Guizhou's manganese ore reserve ranks the first in China. Guizhou also has one third of the world's ascertained super large manganese ore deposits, ranking first in Asia.

Tongren has built manganese material industrial parks in Songtao county, Dalong Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Bijiang district, aiming to contribute to Guizhou's manganese deep-processing industry.

The more than 4.5 billion metric tons of possible coal ore reserves, Guizhou's regional power grid and aluminum ore from nearby provinces allow Xingren to develop the high energy-consuming industry of electrolytic aluminum.

Guizhou also has a titanium ore reserve of 1.17 million tons, ranking sixth in China. Guizhou Zunti (Group) Co has become China's largest whole-process titanium sponge manufacturer and the only national titanium sponge strategic reserve base.
