The deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee from Southwest China's Guizhou province arrived in Beijing on May 20.

The third plenary session of the 13th National Committee of the CPPCC will open on May 21, with the third session of the 13th NPC commencing on May 22. Both were delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The deputies and members have carried out various pieces of research on major issues of economic development and people's livelihoods in order to perfect their proposals and suggestions.

Before departing for Beijing, they also exchanged information on Guizhou's epidemic prevention and control measures, anti-epidemic assistance given to Hubei province, and poverty alleviation work.

Wei Dingmei, member of the CPPCC National Committee and vice mayor of Guiyang, prepared proposals on topics including food safety standards for take outs ordered online, drafting a quality promotion law, and perfecting the disease prevention system.

Ouyang Qiansen, deputy to the NPC and chairman of the Guizhou Federation of Literature and Art Circles, said that he will continue making suggestions on rural revitalization.

Hua Qian, deputy to the NPC and person in charge of the e-commerce service center in Wanshan town, Wanshan district, Tongren, will propose strengthening the development of the online business environment, and increasing the old-age pension for seniors born before 1960 in rural areas.
