Guiyang online trade fair draws big audience, revenues

Guiyang's trade fair to power its post-COVID-19 economic recovery rode a technology wave to draw 2.4 million online views and 123 million yuan ($17.39 million) online transactions.

Using Guiyang's duty-free online shopping website for livestreaming to show goods and process transactions, the 2020 Guiyang Import and Export Online Fair has attracted 1,568 domestic companies and 433 overseas companies from 28 countries and regions to showcase their products from Jun 26 to 28.

The three-day fair also attracted 1,876 domestic purchasing companies and 886 overseas purchasing companies from 52 countries and regions. Aside from livestreaming for product sales, the trade fair also had offline exhibitions. Combined online and offline transactions hit 1.17 billion yuan, according to the Guiyang Bureau of Commerce.

During the trade fair, a total of 37,184 coupons and vouchers were dispatched to four districts in Guiyang, including Nanming, Yunyan, Baiyun, and Jingkai, to boost consumption, head of the Guiyang Bureau of Commerce, told people.com.cn the novel coronavirus has had a negative impact on consumption, while the 2020 Guiyang Import and Export Online Fair played an important role in promoting trade and consumption, and boosting the local economy.
