Online platform helps Guizhou shake off poverty

An online platform called "One Ma" – which integrates agricultural supply and demand functions – was launched on July 23 and it promises to help Southwest China's Guizhou province shake off poverty, according to local officials.

They said it is expected that the platform will provide more sales channels for producers, as a result having a real impact on penury in the region.

The platform has three main sections for information collection, shopping and data management. Officials said these can connect farmers with the market and help with Guizhou's overall agriculture industry structural adjustment.

Users can search "一码贵州" in WeChat to find the platform. It allows customers to buy products from Guizhou's nine cities and prefectures and automatically recommends products, services and shops according to the location of customers.

For bulk purchasers, the platform not only recommends products from impoverished areas, but also supports monthly settlements when the buyer and seller reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, the platform's intelligent business data analysis function can provide invaluable information for the government and company management.

Planting centers, cooperatives, production companies and village officials can all submit production information to become a seller on the platform. The platform's staff members call back with 30 minutes of the submission being sent in, to provide production and a sales coordination service.

So far, over 3,000 companies and 1,000 cooperatives in Guizhou have registered on the platform and officials said they can enjoy various preferential policies before Oct 31 this year, including free of deposit and platform service fee.

In the future, the platform will launch more functions such as group purchases, travel, take outs and bulk purchase functions to meet diverse demands.
