The Yunwu Bridge in Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture – located in  Southwest China's Guizhou province – is currently under construction and will be open to traffic in the first half of 2021.

The bridge, which is part of the expressway between Duyun and Anshun, will on completion be 1,720 meters long and 30.3 meters wide and has a designed traffic speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The bridge's 300-meter high main tower makes it only 32 meters shorter than the world's highest tower bridge – the Pingtang Bridge – which is also located in Guizhou.

The contractors adopted one-time concrete pouring for the platform at the base that holds the vertical loadbearing supports of the main structure above, the first time it was done in Guizhou. One-time pouring can avoid cracks and save 20-25 days of the construction schedule.

The expressway between Duyun and Anshun will be 276.32 kilometers long, and it will cost a total of 43 billion yuan ($6.35 billion).

Due to the complicated geology in the area and high construction standards, the expressway project is the biggest road infrastructure investment to date in Guizhou.

Part of the expressway will be finished and open to traffic later this year.
