Bruno Bisson, consul general of France in Chengdu – capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province – visited the Garden of Lozere at the 4th China Greening Exposition on Oct 18 and said he was blown away by its presentation.

The expo, which kicked off on Oct 18 and runs to Nov 18, is being held in Duyun, capital of the Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture in Southwest China's Guizhou province. It aims to raise public awareness about environmental protection and promote culture and tourism.

The Garden of Lozere replicates the stone castles, terrace plantings and stone paths in Lozere, which is a department in South France's Occitanie region.

The garden is the result of the decade-long cooperation and exchanges between Guizhou and Lozere. It covers an area of 2,432 square meters and is designed to showcase the natural landscape and cultural heritage of France.

Bisson said France wanted to help emphasize the importance of environmental protection to organizations and individuals through the expo.

He said Guizhou and Lozere started friendly relations in 2001 and had since carried out cooperation and exchanges in education, tourism, sports and culture.

When the novel coronavirus outbreak first appeared this year, Lozere sent over 20,000 medical protective masks to support Guizhou. As the epidemic eased in China, Guizhou sent back medical materials to Lozere to help them fight against the virus.

Bisson said that France and Guizhou could expand their cooperation in elderly care, medical treatment, tourism and education and France would welcome more Chinese students to go and study there.
