China Central Television's channel 2 broadcasted a special report about Southwest China's Guizhou province on Dec 9, highlighting the province's efforts to promote new industrialization, urbanization, agricultural modernization and tourism industrialization.

According to the report, Anlong county in Qianxi'nan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture has built an industrial chain of edible fungi relying on the cooperation between enterprises, planting bases, cooperatives and farmers.

So far, the county has 22 major companies and 48 cooperatives related to the edible fungi industry, and the planting area of edible fungi has reached 36,000 mu (2400 hectares) with an output value of 1.5 billion yuan ($229.37 million), helping more than 70,000 impoverished people increase their incomes.

During the first three quarters of this year, Guizhou's total output volume of edible fungi was 1.11 million metric tons, valued at 14.4 billion yuan. It is estimated that by the end of the year, the edible fungi industry will provide 139,000 jobs, becoming one of the pillar industries in poverty alleviation.

The report also featured Guizhou's application of big data in industrial development. The province is well known as one of China's first big data pilot areas.

In 2017, Guizhou helped more than 4,000 companies realize technical transformation by focusing on informatization and digitalization, allowing traditional industries to upgrade and transform.

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan period(2016-20), the digital economy has gone from occupying 19.7 percent of Guizhou's GDP in 2016 to 29.5 percent in 2019 – a growth of about 10 percentage points.

Compared with 2013, in 2019, Guizhou's software business income increased by two times. Meanwhile, the electronic manufacturing industry's output value increased by seven times, and the business volume of telecommunication services increased by 10 times.

By 2022, Guizhou aims to help more than 10,000 economic entities to integrate with big data, and the added value of the digital economy to occupy 33 percent of GDP.
