The Eurasian delegation of 24 ambassadors, diplomatic envoys and international association experts visited Shiban town in Zunyi, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Dec 17. They were there to learn about the local government's efforts to help farmers increase their incomes through industrial development.

Shiban town transfers land to village-level cooperatives and allows farmers to plant the land and increase their incomes. According to one of the villagers, his family is planting 3 mu (0.07 hectares) of land, and each mu can increase their income by 800 yuan ($122.13).

Plus the 80 yuan per day payment for planting, the family can earn more than 20,000 yuan a year.

Based on local conditions, Shiban town adjusted its industrial structure to mobilize farmers' enthusiasm and fully utilize its ecological resources, realizing efficient and green development of the agricultural industry.

Vladimir Norov, secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, was impressed by Guizhou's water-saving irrigation equipment and high-tech pest control technology.

Before visiting Guizhou, Norov learned that the province is known as “China's Switzerland” in Europe. After seeing Guizhou's beautiful natural scenery and folk customs for himself, he agrees with this assessment.

Archil Kalandia, Georgia's ambassador to China, said that Guizhou felt familiar to him, as both Guizhou and Georgia are covered by mountains and have similar weather. He added that he was impressed by Guizhou's application of high technologies in agriculture.

Saidzoda Zohir Ozod, Tajikistan's ambassador to China, hopes Tajikistan can collaborate with Guizhou to learn from the province's agricultural development.
