Since 2020, Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province has taken big data industry development as one of its priorities. The industry achieved rapid growth last year.

During the first 11 months of 2020, Guian's software and information technology services achieved a business income of 5.33 billion yuan ($825.42 million), a year-on-year increase of 47.66 percent.

The output value of Guian's electronic information manufacturing companies above a designed size (those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more) reached 12.87 billion yuan.

Guian's telecommunication business income was 199 million yuan, an increase of 5.15 percent year-on-year, and the e-commerce transaction amount was 8.15 billion yuan.

By November of last year, Guian's seven super-large data center projects received a total investment of 9.74 billion yuan.

By Oct 20, 2020, Guian had built 370 5G base stations ahead of the annual schedule.

Last year, Guian guaranteed the development of major big data projects, such as data centers for Apple, Huawei and Tencent, by solving problems related to land use, power supply and supporting facility construction.

Guian also supported the development of big data companies. So far, the area has helped 35 projects apply for provincial big data development funds, and seven companies received 13 million yuan in funding.
