During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Southwest China's Guizhou province relocated 1.92 million impoverished residents, established 949 relocation sites and built 465,000 resettlement homes.

Relocation of impoverished residents is a significant part of Guizhou's poverty alleviation work, which has greatly contributed to Guizhou's urban-rural development and industrial development and helped one-third of Guizhou's impoverished residents shake off poverty.

In the next five years, Guizhou will solve residents' employment problems by establishing poverty alleviation workshops, encouraging entrepreneurship and providing public welfare job positions.

Based on the local conditions in different relocation sites, Guizhou will plan industrial projects suitable for residents that can become industrial clusters with local features.

Guizhou will also improve the community governance system and capability to serve the future development of the relocation sites and help relocated residents to adapt to their new lives.
