Guiyang, Guian encourage workers to enjoy Spring Festival locally

Guiyang city and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have issued various policies to encourage migrant workers to stay put during the Spring Festival holiday, which runs from Feb 11 to 17 this year. The goal is to prevent and control the novel coronavirus and maintain stability in economic development.

During the holiday, all out-of-province employees from qualified companies who stay in Guiyang and Guian will receive a bonus of 1,000 yuan ($154.64) per person.

Companies above a designated size (those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more) that continue production during the holiday will receive bonuses according to their actual electricity consumption.

Projects resuming construction during the holiday will receive bonuses based on their construction and installation progress, and the financial reward will be no more than 1 million yuan per project.

Companies above a designated size and project construction companies offering accommodation to employees from outside Guizhou can enjoy 50 percent off of February's rent.

The abovementioned companies can also enjoy a 30 percent discount on February's rent for real estate, factories and warehouses if they maintain operations or production during the holiday.

Guiyang and Guian will also offer traffic allowances and organize shopping festivals and free cultural activities for employees to enjoy the holiday.
