The Guangdong-Guizhou Innovative Tea Industry Production and Research Conference was held on Oct 12 in the Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone – based in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Themed on "jointly construction, common share, mutual benefits", the conference was designed to build on existing joint ventures between Guizhou and South China's Guangdong province to transform the traditional tea industry into a modern and dynamic industry.

At the conference, high-end tea brand CHALI – based in the Guangdong port city of Guangzhou – signed a contract with Baichatai, a transaction platform for bulk tea which has settled in the economic zone. The two sides will work together on investment promotions and move to push forwards the level of development of the tea industry.

Baichatai, an auction platform for raw materials with an innovative transaction system and model, is expected to redesign the tea trading system so as to solve problems in information sharing, achieving uniform prices, storage and transactions.

At the conference, Wang Gui, vice-director of the lead team for the Guizhou tea industry's development, gave a briefing on the current situation and the development plan of the sector in the province – urging there be more joint work undertaken between the two provinces.

Wang said that while Guizhou boasted an enormous tea production capacity, Guangzhou was famous for its rich tea culture and vast market. Wang said the two provinces could cooperate to open up the tea supply chain and speed up the roll-out of tea industry platforms, to support the national strategies of modernization development and rural revitalization.

Yang Lili, head of the Economy Development Bureau of the Shuanglong District Administration, also addressed the conference – recommending the zone's competitive advantages in location, transportation, development orientation and innovative policies.

She said that the zone would provide professional and efficient services to help enterprises implement their projects as soon as possible.
