Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area are striving to develop high-standard farmland to facilitate spring plowing. Since 2023, there have been 34 high-standard farmland projects in Guiyang and Gui'an under construction, covering an area of 95,000 mu (6333.3 hectares). They are expected to all be completed by April.

To move forward with construction on major projects, Guiyang and Gui'an have established a collaborative work system among various departments and issued a work plan to clarify construction standards, work content and security measures, ensuring the high-quality completion of the high-standard farmland projects in a timely manner.

Moreover, six parties, including relevant departments, governments at the township, town and village levels, owner units and resident representatives have held discussions and reviewed the project design plans so as to ensure the projects are built to high standards. A post-construction management system has also been formulated, detailing the responsible parties and the allocation of funds to support the normal operation of the projects.

After the completion of the projects, soil will be improved and fertilized to enhance the quality of arable land and increase grain production. At least one season of grain will be planted annually, with the planting density of rice increasing from 8,000 plants per mu to 12,000 plants.

In addition, Guiyang and Gui'an have encouraged and guided local farmers and related enterprises to engage in the high-standard farmland projects. This has not only boosted local employment, but also increased farmers' incomes and companies' profits.

An official from the Guiyang municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs stated that 580,000 mu of high-standard farmland has been established in Guiyang and Gui'an since 2019. Moving forward, Guiyang and Gui'an will transform arable land into modern high-yield and stable land to offer a solid foundation for ensuring food security and an ample supply of important agricultural products.
