The Southern Energy Big Data Center, located in the Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province, is expected to meet the professional electromechanical installation requirements for data centers by the end of August, and the first batch of 500 cabinets – each with a capacity of 10 kilowatts – will be put into operation by the end of this year.

The center has received a total investment of 1.45 billion yuan ($200.25 million) and covers an area of approximately 133.8 mu (8.92 hectares). It has a total planned capacity of around 5,000 10-kW cabinets, accommodating 100,000 1U servers.

The first phase of the project is set to invest around 800 million yuan in the construction of 2,000 cabinets and supporting facilities over a period of three to five years.Upon completion of the project, data from various aspects of energy production, transmission, storage, consumption, and trading will be collected to create a digital government and new-type power system application, as well as energy big data products such as carbon trading and carbon tracking, thus advancing the digital and low-carbon economies.

As the core area of the nation's first comprehensive big data experimental zone, Gui'an has already introduced 20 large-scale data and smart computing centers to offer quality computing services to enterprises and research institutions in regions such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta, fully supporting the innovation and development of the digital economy.
