Guiyang and Gui'an achieve strong results in air quality

The environmental air quality of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has met grade II national standard for the past seven years, ranking 10th among 168 key cities nationwide and fourth among provincial capitals.

In 2023, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area had 363 days with excellent air quality, accounting for 99.5 percent of the year.

The city conducted inspections on approximately 21,000 units related to air pollution sources and rectified 10,150 issues, aiming to promote ultra-low emissiond transformations in the steel and cement industries, as well as the comprehensive utilization of straw.

Furthermore, the water quality of national and provincial controlled sections of Guiyang and Gui'an were all "excellent". And the compliance rates of the sound environment for daytime and nighttime monitoring points in Guiyang's central urban area reached 100 percent and 93.5 percent, respectively, while that of Gui'an reached 100 percent.

Guiyang and Gui'an have also strictly enforced ecological and environmental access requirements. A total of 369 environmental impact assessments on construction projects were conducted with an investment of approximately 48.5 billion yuan ($6.69 billion), and 703 emissions permits were issued.

Meanwhile, 39 environmental impact assessments on construction projects were conducted in Gui'an, with an investment of 15.24 billion yuan and 46 emission permits issued.
