Guiyang opens new chapter in development of high-quality digital economy

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, not only boasts beautiful natural landscapes and a rich ethnic culture, but also showcases remarkable vitality and creativity in its digital economy.
As one of the top 10 data center clusters in China, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area is actively engaged in channeling computing resources from the east to the west. As of now, Gui'an has deployed 95,800 intelligent computing cards, with a computing power scale reaching 30.7 EFLOPS, accounting for 13.3 percent of China's total computing power as of the end of 2023, equivalent to the computing power output of more than 60 million mainstream laptops.
Leading computing power enterprise Huawei Cloud established its global headquarters and largest cloud data center in Gui'an. In 2023, Gui'an's Huawei Cloud data center provided cloud services to over 380 local companies in Guizhou and assisted over 100 local information systems in domestic adaptation, with global revenue exceeding 53 billion yuan ($7.35 billion).
In 2023, Guizhou's software and information technology service industry revenue reached 85.62 billion yuan, growing by 20.7 percent. The digital economy accounted for over 42 percent of GDP, an increase of 3 percentage points compared with the previous year, narrowing the gap with the national average by 0.5 percentage points. In 2024, the proportion of Guizhou's digital economy to regional GDP is expected to exceed 45 percent.
Moving forward, Guiyang will continue to adhere to a development path guided by computing power, empowerment, industry, governance and value, while also deepening reforms, further opening up to the outside world, and carrying out innovative practices in the digital economy.
