Ancient Longjing village thrives through cultural tourism

Longjing village is an ancient village in Qingyan town, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, with 98 percent of the residents being of the Bouyei ethnic group. It is located next to Qingyan Ancient Town, a 5A-level scenic area.

As of 2025, Longjing village boasts 24 specialty restaurants, 27 cultural workshops, and 13 homestays. Initial projections put the number of tourists in 2025 at 230,000, with a total tourism revenue of 17 million yuan ($2.4 million). The village has nurtured more than 10 representative practitioners of intangible cultural heritage, inspiring over 40 residents to innovate and start businesses. Hands-on workshops and study courses of traditional crafts such as batik and silver jewelry making have been developed, generating an annual income of over 200,000 yuan.

Every year, Longjing village also hosts the "Shangjiu" Bouyei Singing Festival and the "Liuyueliu", an ethnic festival, along with regular bonfire parties. In 2025, the "National Village Gala" attracted 35,000 live attendees and 2 million online viewers, boosting surrounding businesses' peak daily revenue to over 200,000 yuan.
