Southwest China's Guizhou province recently released regulations to promote the development of its traditional Chinese medicine or TCM industry, according to a news conference held on June 29.

The regulations have 73 articles – covering TCM services, the protection and development of TCM, talent cultivation and scientific research, passing on the skills of TCM and publicizing the sector.

The regulations stress TCM's beneficial features and advantages and are expected to help solve current problems concerning qualification certificates, as well as the management and application of TCM preparations at TCM medical treatment institutions.

To boost the high-quality development of the TCM industry, Guizhou has plans to comprehensively improve the quality and quantity of the sector's materials.

It will build a dispatching center for Guizhou-made TCM, establish a TCM industry ecosystem and realize the integrated development of TCM with the province's primary, secondary and tertiary industries.

Furthermore, Guizhou will enact measures to select, introduce and cultivate researchers and the young elite in TCM scientific research. Additionally, it will support experienced TCM physicians and professionals to train apprentices – as well as encourage the integration of TCM and western medicine.
