During the first half of the year, the development zones in Southwest China's Guizhou province reportedly saw an overall increase in the output value of industries above a designated size and the number of industrial enterprises above a designated size.

Industrial enterprises above a designated size refer to those whose main annual business revenue is 20 million yuan ($3.09 million) or more.

From January to June, Guizhou's 100 development zones under provincial supervision posted a 17.6 percent rise year-on-year in the total output value of industries above a designated size, contributing 81 percent to the provincial total.

During the period, the number of industrial enterprises above a designated size in the zones was 80.2 percent of provincial total, which was 1.2 percent points higher than that of last year.

Meanwhile, Guizhou issued a regulation relating to development zone management organizations. Under it, the province removed the social affairs management duties of 85 development zones and maintained 100 management organizations for 139 development zones.

Currently, Guizhou has two development zones above the output value level of 100 billion yuan , 19 ones above 20 billion yuan and 38 ones above 10 billion yuan.

The province has also built 14 national and 44 provincial new-type industrialization demonstration bases, six national green industrial parks and 16 provincial pilot green industrial parks. What's more, Guizhou's development zones hold one fifth of the province's authorized invention patents.
