Guiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) (贵阳国家高新技术产业开发区) was approved by the State Council and established in 1992 as a state-level development zone.

With a total planning area of 31.02 square kilometers, Guiyang HIDZ consists of Jinyang Science and Technology Industry Park and Xintian Science and Technology Industry Park. Within these parks are the Knowledge Economy Industrialization Base, Chip Components Industrial Park, Medicine Industrial Park, Guizhou Torch Software Park, Overseas Returnees Pioneering Park and Technology Business Incubator.

There are over 12,892 enterprises registered in Guiyang HIDZ, covering fields of big data, big health, high-end manufacturing, and modern services.

In the first half of 2019, the value of total industrial output of the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) reached 6.25 billion yuan ($899 million), with an increase of 8.2 percent comparing with the same period in 2018.

The HIDZ's major industries are new materials, advanced manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals and information technology. Representative enterprises include Guiyang Jinghua Electron Material, South Huitong, Guizhou Shenqi Pharmaceutical, Snecma and China Zhenhua (Group) Science & Technology.

Guiyang HIDZ was rated "BBB" by China Knowledge in a research report published in June, 2011. BBB ranked industrial parks are considered attractive at an average level. There are 60 such BBB rated parks out of 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks where many are seeking to transform or upgrade its facilities to attract new economic industries.
