Guizhou bridge earns Guinness World Record

At a height of 370 meters, Balinghe Bridge in Anshun city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recognized recently as the highest commercial bungee jumping facility in the world by Guinness World Records.

Six professional bungee jumpers and six amateur enthusiasts took the plunge during the official bungee jumping challenge on the same day.

Balinghe Bridge is 2,237 meters long and 370 meters tall. It stretches over the Baling River Canyon and connects Huangguoshu Waterfall in the east.

Anshun has held the annual China Anshun Balinghe Bridge International Base Jumping Tournament from the bridge for six years now. The event has attracted professional jumpers from countries from all over the world, including the UK, the United States, Germany and Canada.

Recognition from Guinness is expected to not only boost tourism in Anshun, but also make Guizhou more well-known around the world.

Guizhou has taken advantage of its mountainous terrain to develop a variety of mountain sport activities, including cross-country running and cycling, camping, and rally racing.

Mountain sports have helped promote the development of the tourism industry in Guizhou and made it an attractive destination for sports enthusiasts.
