Yang Changqin, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), is also an inheritor of the traditional skill of Chishui bamboo weaving, a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

According to Yang, bamboo weaving products have become a cultural symbol of Chishui, and endow the city with its unique character.

In order to further promote bamboo weaving and expand the market, Yang hopes to attract more young people to learn bamboo weaving. She established an education, marketing, processing and production center in Datong town after the 2019 NPC to teach local farmers bamboo weaving skills.

Yang believes the participation of young people is essential to rural areas' future development, while industries based on traditional cultures can help distinguish Chishui from other areas.

In Chishui, bamboo weaving is not only a poverty alleviation industry, it's also a pillar industry for rural revitalization.

To reduce the effect of the COVID-19 outbreak on foreign trade businesses, Yang made every effort to expand the domestic market, and received orders from Shanghai and Zhejiang.

In the future, Yang plans to try webcasts to promote and sell bamboo weaving products.
