According to Ke Liangdong, vice president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverages Expo highlights the vital role of the convention and exhibition industry in local economic development, trade cooperation and cultural exchanges.

He made the comments at the opening ceremony of this year's expo on Sept 9.

CCPIT has assisted in poverty alleviation in Guizhou's Congjiang county since 2015, coordinating with the government of Macao Special Administrative Region and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao to invest poverty alleviation funds and materials worth roughly 200 million yuan ($29.25 million).

Ke said that after years of development, the expo has become an internationally famous exhibition for alcoholic beverages, and is an essential cooperation and investment platform for the international liquor industry and related industrial chains.

This year's expo is being held online and offline from Sept 9 to 13 and offers various exhibition activities for domestic and international liquor companies.
