During the first three quarters of this year, the output value of green food in Southwest China's Guizhou province was 95 billion yuan ($14.19 billion), a year-on-year increase of more than 6 percent.

Since the beginning of this year, Guizhou has focused on cultivating 10 major companies and 42 rapid-developing companies by investing 89.5 million yuan in 89 food projects and 62.3 million yuan in 56 other projects.

Guizhou also accelerated the construction of 464 projects, which required an investment of 31.74 billion yuan. The development will have a production capacity of 5.92 million metric tons when put into operation.

This year, Guizhou has attracted 191 green food processing projects and signed contracts totaling 14.12 billion yuan. Meanwhile, Guizhou is taking action to help 60 small and medium-sized food companies to achieve annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more.

Guizhou has 33 green food industrial parks, 8,967 green food companies and 174,200 green food processing-related employees. The rate of output value, revenue and profit in small and medium-sized food companies maintains two-digit growth.

However, Guizhou's green food industry has disadvantages in scale, number of major companies, brand influence and imbalanced development in different regions.

Guizhou will focus on its disadvantages and take steps to become a national green food industrial base with regional features, high-quality products, a complete product-standard system, competitive brands and a rounded industrial system.
