According to a promotion meeting for Guizhou's big health industry, held on Nov 18 in Xingyi – a county-level city in the Southwest China province – the province's health medicine industry is strong and in great shape.
The meeting was told that the province's health medicine enterprises above a designated size – those with individual annual sales of 20 million yuan ($3.1 million) or more – posted a combined output value of 23.87 billion yuan ($3.74 billion yuan) during the first three quarters of the year, a 4.6 percent increase compared with the previous corresponding period.
During the period, Guizhou planted 7.08 million mu (471,820 hectares) of traditional Chinese medicinal crops, with a yield of 1.28 million metric tons and an output value of 14.66 billion yuan.
From January to September, Guizhou built 78 forest health maintenance pilot bases, receiving 6.69 million visitors, achieving revenue of 12 billion yuan and providing jobs for 10,400 people.
Moreover, Guizhou is accelerating the construction of nine sports and tourism demonstration scenic spots, 12 demonstration towns for sports and tourism integration, four small towns featuring sports and three sports and tourism routes.
Currently, Guizhou is planning 143 provincial big health projects, with an estimated investment of 161.09 billion yuan. In addition, Guizhou's medicine industry introduced 117 new projects with a total investment of 24.27 billion yuan during the first three quarters.
In 2022, plans are for the province to promote a complete industry supply chain of medicine and health, as well as construct more industrial parks and projects – and introduce high-quality enterprises to locate there – in order to build an integrated big health industry ecosystem.
