Guizhou plans smart city construction

Southwest China's Guizhou province recently issued a development plan for constructing smart cities during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

According to the plan, by 2025, Guizhou will aim to form a network system of roads, water supply, power grids, oil and gas supply, and internet infrastructure with a reasonable layout, comprehensive coverage, complete functions, safety and reliability.

By then, Guizhou will aim to establish more than 160,000 5G base stations, cultivate a number of new digital industry models and forms , and realize the in-depth integration of big data and companies.

It will aim to have its added value of digital economy accounting for about 50 percent of GDP, help more than 3 million people find jobs, and boost the development of 100 provincial modern service clusters by 2025.

It will also work to improve its digital governance and intelligent livelihood services. By 2025, Guizhou aims to implement about 300 intelligent city construction projects, achieve 100 percent online coverage of government affairs service items, and cover all urban communities with grid management.
