Guizhou's 11th provincial games kick off

The 11th Provincial Games of Guizhou opened in Liupanshui city on Aug 8, which was also China's National Fitness Day. The games will last until Aug 18.

The opening ceremony started at 4 pm at Liupanshui's Liangdu Stadium that day. Judges and athletes from Guizhou's nine cities and prefectures, as well as provincial government departments, the Guizhou Federation of Trade Unions, and the Guizhou Federation of Industry and Commerce entered the stadium and waved to audiences.

Wang Shijie, vice-governor and director of the organizing committee of the 11th provincial games, welcomed all guests, athletes, coaches, judges, organizers and volunteers to the games.

Shen Yiqin, secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, announced the opening of the games at 4:28 pm, and the flags of the Guizhou Provincial Games and the 11th Provincial Games of Guizhou were raised at the venue while the anthem of the games was played.

Athletes, coaches and judges all took an oath.

This year's provincial games will consist of 567 competition items for competitive sports with the participation of 4,903 athletes. There are also 162 items for general participants, including 29 competition items and seven performance items, with the participation of more than 4,000 people, making it the largest provincial games in history.
