Guizhou province reports robust Jan-Aug foreign trade growth

During the first eight months of the current year, the value of imports and exports in Southwest China's Guizhou province hit 46.93 billion yuan ($6.61 billion), a 13.2 percent year-on-year increase according to Guiyang Customs.

The foreign trade included 30.86 billion yuan in exports and 16.07 billion yuan in imports, with a trade surplus coming in at 14.79 billion yuan.

During the period, the total value of foreign trade for the provincial capital city of Guiyang hit 36.74 billion yuan, up 8.8 percent year-on-year. The foreign trade of Zunyi and Tongren cities was 3.67 billion yuan and 2.03 billion yuan, respective strong increases of 30.3 percent and 142.9 percent.

The processing trade and bonded logistics sectors maintained rapid growth. From January to August, Guizhou's processing sector generated 10.62 billion yuan in foreign trade, a year-on-year increase of 89.6 percent.

Total imports and exports of Guizhou's bonded logistics reached 5.98 billion yuan, a surge of 213.5 percent. The foreign trade value of general trade was 30.08 billion yuan in the same period.

From January to August, Guizhou had 703 companies that achieved actual foreign trade value, which increased 11.6 percent year-on-year. These companies included 582 private companies with a foreign trade value of 29.41 billion yuan, which accounted for 62.7 percent of Guizhou's total.

Among Guizhou's imported commodities, integrated circuits increased by 65.8 percent year-on-year and sulfur increased by 81.7 percent year-on-year. Among export commodities, agricultural products increased by 19 percent year-on-year, tires by 50.2 percent and integrated circuits by 182.1 percent.
