At a news conference of the State Council Information Office held in Beijing on June 14, Southwest China's Guizhou province introduced its efforts and achievements in high-quality development, paving the way toward a thriving economy, better living standards and sound eco-environment.

In recent years, Guizhou, while consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation, has accelerated the transformation of its development model, promoting both qualitative and quantitative improvements in the economy.

Guizhou is committed to increasing rural incomes, ensuring that the growth rate of rural per capita income remains higher than that of urban residents and the overall economy, thus preventing people from falling back into poverty.

Guizhou boasts abundant mineral resources, with reserves of 49 minerals ranking among the top 10 nationwide. In recent years, the province has ensured the precise exploration, efficient exploitation, and proper utilization of mineral resources.

Guizhou has been continuously strengthening ecological protection and restoration efforts, with the provincial forest coverage rate reaching 63 percent. It has the highest number of World Natural Heritage sites in the country and ranks third nationally in terms of biodiversity.

Guizhou is also increasing investment in people's livelihoods, with nearly 70 percent of fiscal expenditures allocated to this purpose each year. Last year, Guizhou saw the addition of 186,200 school admission slots, while five national-level regional medical centers commencing operation.

The medical systems at the provincial, municipal, county, township, and village levels are being perfected, and the educational and medical conditions in the province are steadily improving.
