Guiyang ski resort opens new intermediate slope

The intermediate ski slope at Guiyang Gaopo Yunding Ski Resort in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, opened on Jan 26.

At 1,600 meters above sea level, the ski resort benefits from naturally low temperatures and top-notch gear: 12 American SMI and eight Swiss ARECO snow cannons, plus large snow groomers, to maintain pristine, perfectly groomed slopes.

The intermediate slope stretches 500 meters with a carefully engineered gradient, delivering the exhilarating speed and challenge of winter sports while still allowing beginners to stay comfortably in control.

Beginner-friendly area: A gentle 220-meter slope paired with a snow carpet offers effortless uphill transport. Professional coaches provide hands-on instruction, guiding beginners through each step so they can quickly unlock skiing skills and dive into a winter adventure.

Romantic twilight session: As evening falls, the slopes transform into a dreamlike scene. Orange-red twilight spills over the pure white snow, casting a warm golden glow and capturing the serene beauty of winter in every moment.

Transportation

By car: Depart from downtown Guiyang and navigate to "Gaopo Yunding Ski Resort." The drive takes about 1.5 hours.

Taxi: Navigate to "Huaxi Yunding Ski Resort."

Direct bus: Depart from Guiyang Zilin'an Metro Station Bailin Hotel at 9:00 am and return at 4:30 pm. Reservations must be made by phone one day in advance.

Public transportation: Metro Line 3 — get off at Huaxi Park Station. Cross to the opposite station and take the "Huaxi-Jiading (hail-and-ride stop)" bus, then walk about 20-30 minutes to the Yunding Ski Resort Scenic Area.
