The Shubo Avenue (Big Data Expo Avenue) in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently selected as one of the top 10 examples in China for demonstrating the creation of a smart city, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

CAICT officials said that in identifying the 10 examples they examined services, social governance, facilities, industries and the environment of the cities and industrial parks.

According to CAICT, as one of the first national big data comprehensive pilot areas, Guiyang has achieved great progress in the construction of a smart city, especially along the Shubo Avenue area.

The area covers Guiyang's major functional areas which support the development of big data, finance, science and technology. It featured in the Big Data Expo and was showcased in the Guizhou Big Data Exhibition Center.

Officials said that by the end of 2020, Shubo Avenue will serve as the demonstration area for Guizhou's big data development, as well as show the path going forward for big data at the national and international levels.
