The World Tourism Alliance (WTA), a non-governmental nonprofit global organization initiated by China, recently released 100 cases of poverty alleviation in Beijing, eight of which came from Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The eight cases reveal Guizhou's efforts to alleviate poverty through relocation of impoverished residents, tourism development, environmental improvements, rural land system reform, industrial integration, natural and cultural heritage protection, and tourism brand marketing.

As China aims to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects and shake off poverty in 2020, the WTA wishes to provide poverty alleviation examples through these 100 cases.

The WTA has been positioned as the advocator and practitioner of poverty alleviation through tourism development since its establishment in 2017. It has released poverty alleviation cases for three years in cooperation with the World Bank and the International Poverty Reduction Center in China.
