In the first 11 months of this year, Southwest China's Guizhou province has attracted 673 major industrial projects to its 12 poverty-stricken counties and districts, accounting for a total contract value of 92.29 billion yuan ($14.13 billion), with investments of 66.43 billion yuan paid.

The 12 poverty-stricken counties and districts include nine severely impoverished counties, Weining, Congjiang, Rongjiang, Qinglong, Wangmo, Ziyun, Yanhe, Hezhang and Nayong, as well as three counties and districts with more than 10,000 people living in poverty: Qixingguan district, Zhijin county and Shuicheng county.

Since the beginning of this year, Guizhou has enhanced cooperation with East China cities to attract more companies, talents and technologies.

By October, Guizhou had introduced 360 joint-operated projects from East China with a contract value of 57.71 billion yuan, 18.01 billion yuan of which was paid. Among the 360 projects, 12 are under preparation, 205 are under operation, and 143 were put into operation.

Guizhou also innovated its investment attraction methods by releasing various policies, allowing cities and prefectures with a strong economy to help impoverished counties, promoting the development of short-term and fast-growing industries, and ensuring the sustainable growth of long-term industries.

The goal was to attract five or more projects or companies for each impoverished county and district and help about 2,500 people get employed in five months.

In the future, Guizhou will focus on green food industrial parks, featured agricultural towns and 12 major agricultural industries to attract giant agricultural companies and agricultural product manufacturing companies, improve planting and breeding industries, and create agricultural industry clusters.
